tom cleaningWe could just keep posting on Josh’s Kevin Costner fan club post……or…… Everyone knew that once I started blogging I would have to talk about my favorite things in the world- KITTIES! Although I know this will be boring to most of you, I have to talk about them since they are such a part of me. I’ll start with the oldest first, as parents usually do when speaking of their children. We got Tom as a wee kitten from an old lady who had 30 or so cats. I called to see if she had an orange one (my favorite color for cats) and she said she had one. Robyn and I went to pick him up and we saw about 29 other colors before I asked where the orange one was. The lady looked down beside me where a flowerpot sat and pointed at his little sweet sleeping body curled up inside of it. It was love at first sight! I wish I had a picture of that. Now three and a half, he is the longest living cat I have ever had (dead Callie was 9 but we only owned her for 3 years- I say “dead” Callie because we have a live Callie now) Tom is orange and fat. His full name is Tommy Tucker Tail and sometimes we joke about him being a real live Garfield. He’s not terribly friendly and scowles all the time. Which we might could attribute to the fact that the poor thing has lots of health problems. He likes to sit on anything and everything (not unlike his recently criminalized cake-sitting feline counterpart, Smokey) and especially anything warm. You have all seen him sitting on our Mac. Last nite he discovered that the DVD/VCR player gets a little warm and he spent the evening lounging on that. I think Tom is a little more intelligent than alot of other kitties, when you look into his eyes there seemes to be more there than just a blank “PET ME” stare like alot of other cats. He, unlike his adopted sister and nephew, is not mindlessly driven to be pet constantly. He loves to be around us but he has a little more dignity than Callie and Elwin than to come begging for attention. Some people think he’s a snob, but I know that he is just trying to be composed and not look desperate. Josh and I have a song that we wrote in his honor that we sing to the tune of “Allouette”. The words are simply (and beautifully, I might add) : ” Tommy Tucker, Tommy Tommy Tucker, Tommy Tucker, Tommy Tucker Tail!” Sometimes Josh improvises more verses about how fat he is or how much he likes to drink water. I am not that talented. Though, I must say that I was the one who came up with the words above. (genius!) I’ll end with that little diddy for now, I’ll post about my other two precious babies soon! 🙂

Not being a huge cat-lover myself, I was a bit worried that I would have to work hard at reading about one. But this post held my attention the entire time! Very good job describing Tom’s personality. I like the fact that he’s dignified–it makes you want to pet him even more. Cute song, too 🙂

I can’t believe you told the world about our little song. Oh well, we sing it enough. Maybe we should put out an album.

Oh Linz…I love your posts. Maybe I’ll bring Apple over for a play date. Haha. Orrrrr…maybe not.

I wouldn’t worry about any cat and dog fights. As soon as one of the cats looks at Apple with an intimidating eye, she’ll fall on her back and put her paws up in submission.

But yes, do worry about the pee-pee.
