Hmm. It doesn’t do a very good job of selling the product, does it? Apple does a good job in their commercials because they make the product seem cool and Microsoft seem old and dorky. Seinfeld used to be it, but that was 15 years ago. Now, well, the word old comes to mind, although not necessarily dorky. And what’s with computer cake? This commercial had so much potential…

I think it’s a good move for Microsoft to have Bill Gates in their commercials. Bill Gates is kind of a pop culture icon in himself and I think he could be kind of like Dave from Wendy’s for computers. However, the Seinfeld angle isn’t super. I think that for this commercial to work, it would have to be as a series of commercials featuring Bill Gates running into various celebrities.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who is confused about this ad.I saw another one last night that is even more stupid and pointless. What were they thinking? I guess if they are just trying to get people talking about the ads, it’s working!I’ll have to ask Amanda, the PR student, what she thinks. Of course, she is a huge MAC fan, so she will be biased!!
