Obama, Modern Day Tetzel

During the time of the Protestant Reformation in Germany of which Martin Luther was a leader, an unscrupulous peddler named Johann Tetzel began to do work in the name of the pope. You see, at that time Pope Leo X was attempting to rebuild St. Peter’s Basilica but he needed money to do so. In Roman Catholic theology there were many different ways to gain different spiritual privileges. One such privilege was the gaining of indulgences which one could obtain on behalf of a dead loved one. The dearly departed was assumed to be in Purgatory and indulgences done on their behalf would shorten their time in that place of purging. One could obtain indulgences through such acts as making pilgrimages to holy sites. When the time came to raise money for St. Peter’s, Rome instituted a system for selling indulgences.

Johann Tetzel went forth in the name of the Pope, under the banner of the same, selling these indulges, playing on the fears and emotions of the peasants. His mantra was “Each time a coin in the coffers rings, a soul from purgatory springs.” Thus he misled and manipulated the people.

During the time of the 2008 presidential election in the United States, an unscrupulous candidate with a checkered past that included associations with terrorists began to do the work of the socialist left in America. You see, at that time, the Democratic party was attempting to put a liberal in the White House but they needed votes to do so. In liberal Democratic ideology there were different ways to make a living in America. One such means of making a living was the redistribution of wealth which would allow a citizen to obtain more money than they actually earned by having the thieving federal government take it from those who had. The “underpaid” citizen was assumed to be a consistently good hardworker that had ONLY made good decisions all the time yet was simply and unfairly poorer than some others who had strived for success and the redistribution of income, if performed on their behalf, would help them be rich too at the expense of the others. One could obtain this unearned money by such acts as not applying themselves and then promising votes to a candidate. When the time came to raise votes for a liberal Democratic president, the Democratic party began to espouse a system for taking money from those who earned it and giving it to those who had not in a sort of twisted forced charity.

Barack Obama went forth in the name of Socialist Democrats, using the rhetoric of the same, peddling redistribution of income, playing on the fears and jealousy of the middle and lower class. Thus he misled and manipulated the voters. “Each time a vote in the ballot box rings, a welfare check into the mailbox springs.” America needs a reformation.

“The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.” I wonder what right-wing religious nutjob said that? Oops. It was Democratic president John F. Kennedy.

Interesting take on this. At least Obama has every intention to deliver on his promise: the socialists have to feed their government worshipers regularly in order to keep themselves in power.

It’s this Tuesday. Tuesday all of our fears will be averted or realized.
